MITZVAH DAY 2023:

See you at USH on October 15!

Welcome to Mitzvah Day 2023 / 5784

Welcome to Mitzvah Day 2023! Here's where you can find information on all of this year's projects and activities, including our donation drives. Once again, the USH Mitzvah Day event will provide both in-person activities and other opportunities to make a difference in our community.  General information about this year's projects can be found in a link in the Shabbat announcements.

For all the details on our 2023 projects, please see the chart below!

This year we are collecting the following items, which can be brought to USH from September 26 through Mitzvah Day:

  1. For the Emergency Food Pantry: School-appropriate autumn and winter clothing for children & teens of client families.  The Food Pantry is requesting school-appropriate clothing for children from preschool up through high school, in sizes ranging from 2T to adult Small.  Items must be freshly laundered and gently used, with no holes/rips or stains.  These can be brought to USH starting Tuesday, Sept. 26.
  2. For Welcome Home, which supports refugees:  Winter outerwear -- coats, hats, scarves, gloves & mittens -- for children & teens, and for adults.  Items must be freshly laundered and gently used, with no holes/rips or stains.  These can be brought to USH starting Tuesday, Sept. 26.
  3. For the Hoboken Shelter: Our annual toiletries drive, including personal-size shampoo & conditioner, soap, body lotion, toothbrush & toothpaste, deodorant, and individually wrapped disposable razors, to be placed in personal hygiene kits for Shelter clients.
  4. For The Flow Initiative: Feminine hygiene products to be placed in schools, libraries and other public buildings in Hudson County.

Virtual Ways to Participate in Mitzvah Day:

  1. In our very popular virtual mitzvah project, USH will deliver meals to the Hoboken Shelter’s clients on a specific day.  The Shelter is now serving approximately 125 adults for dinner every day.  Our donation will also help a city restaurant, which will prepare and deliver the meals.  A donation of $10 will provide a meal for one person. 2. The Emergency Food Pantry has an Amazon wish list for baby items and for food.  To donate baby items click here: Food Pantry Baby Items Wish List . To donate for the Food Pantry click here: Food Needs
