Mitzvah Month 2020 / 5781

Mitzvah Day will look a little different this year. Announcing … Mitzvah Days, COVID edition!  Instead of holding one Mitzvah Day this year, we have created a variety of opportunities to encourage you to make a difference in our community over the course of the next month. As usual, look for our Mitzvah project sign-up grid in the Shofar and in a link in the Shabbat announcements.

And in an exciting addition to Mitzvah Month, on Sept. 13 you will be receiving a special Rosh Hashanah gift from USH. This sweet treat comes with all best wishes to you and your family for a happy and healthy 5781. Our plan is to deliver one to every USH member household.  However, we recognize that some members have left their homes during the pandemic.  If you’re away from your home at this time, please email mitzvahday@hobokensynagogue.org so that someone from our contactless delivery team doesn’t deliver a gift bag to your empty home.

There are several opportunities to help our neighbors in a contactless, safe way.

  1. The Hoboken Emergency Food Pantry has a wish list on Amazon to order food that will be delivered to their door. Visit this link to make a donation to the Food Pantry:  http://bit.ly/HobokenMitzvahMonthPantryList
  2. USH will deliver meals to the Hoboken Shelter’s 80 clients on a specific day. Our donation will also help a city restaurant, which will prepare and deliver the meals in a contactless, safe way. A donation of $10 will provide a meal for one person. Please click this link make a donation.
