join us on Wed April 21 (tomorrow evening) at 7:30pm as we gather with rabbinical students representing Conservative / Reform / Orthodox Judaism in the United States, to discuss the ideological diversity in the American Jewish community.

This program is part of the New Jersey Rabbinical Assembly's Introduction to Judaism program and is open to the public, though rsvp is required.

Panelists:

Madeline Cooper is a fourth year rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion in New York, where she is studying as a Wexner Fellow. This spring, she will receive her M.A. in Jewish Nonprofit Management from the Zelikow School at HUC-JIR. Originally from Lexington, MA, Madeline graduated from Dartmouth College in 2016 with a major in History. Most recently, Madeline has served as a Rabbinic Intern at Colby College in Waterville, ME and at Temple Isaiah in Lexington, MA, and as the Intern to the Director of Student Support in the Office of the Provost at HUC-JIR. Madeline also serves as co-president of the HUC-JIR NY Student Association and loves to read, hike, and volunteer for political campaigns in her free time.

Phoebe Ana Rabinowitsch is a student at Yeshivat Maharat in the class of 2022. She grew up in South Florida and earned a B.A. in Religion and Anthropology from American University (Washington, DC). She has studied Torah at Drisha, Hadar and Pardes, where she was involved in organizing a weekly partnership minyan, and has worked or interned at organizations including New York Presbyterian Hospital's Department of Pastoral Care, Hillel international, the New Sanctuary Coalition, Tzedek Box, and various educational organizations. Phoebe Ana is interested in exploring how to create a supportive and nourishing environment for all and is committed to further pursuing a society that reflects our values. She lives in Washington Heights, New York.  

Katja Vehlow is a third year rabbinical student at the Jewish Theological Seminary, the Rabbinic Intern at the United Synagogue of Hoboken, and one of the teachers in the New Jersey Rabbinical Assembly's Introduction to Judaism program. A newly minted citizen, she grew up in Germany and lived in the UK and Israel. Katja holds a PhD in medieval Jewish history from NYU and taught Religious and Jewish studies at the University of South Carolina. She is the author of Abraham ibn Daud's 'Dorot Olam,' a critical edition and translation of writings by a 12th century Spanish Jewish historian and philosopher. She lives in New York with her spouse Jeff and their son Asher.
