Board of Trustees
Jeremy Morley
President
Jeremy Morley is an international family lawyer, an ex-law professor and a fervent Manchester United supporter, not necessarily in that order. He comes from Manchester, England, moved to the States after college and has three children, two adult and one in middle school. He and his wife Eriko, who is from Takasaki, Japan, joined USH when they enrolled their
daughter in the Kaplan Preschool at USH as a two-year old, which was a tremendous choice. They have lived in uptown Hoboken for about 12 years and love all that USH has to offer. Jeremy is delighted to serve as President of our informal, open-minded, relaxed and inclusive synagogue.
Lauren Braun
Executive Vice President
Lauren and her husband Daniel have tremendously enjoyed attending services and programs at USH since 2008. They also had the honor of having their wedding officiated by Rabbi Scheinberg. Together, Lauren and Daniel partake in Shabbat services, USH's vibrant and welcoming community, and feel fortunate to have participated in the USH Sulam Leadership Program. Lauren is the Deputy Director of Leadership Giving at Baruch College, guest lectures on non-profit fundraising, and is pursuing an Executive Master of Public Administration (MPA). She joined the USH board in 2016 and Chairs its Development Committee.
Rochelle Ohring
Secretary
Rochelle Ohring has been a member of USH since the late 1980s and was elected to the board in 2014. A resident of Hoboken since 1984, Rochelle has vivid memories of 115 Park Avenue being gated, locked, and very uninviting – the opposite of what it is today! Rochelle has undergraduate and MBA degrees from Rutgers. After over 30 years in marketing research in the financial services industry, Rochelle recently retired from Citi where she spent the last 13 years of her career. Rochelle is married to Avi Ohring, whom she met in 1989 at USH. Rochelle and Avi have two adult sons, Jake and Max, both grew up at USH, starting as toddlers, attending Learning Center, going through their bar mitzvah years and continue to participate in USH young adult activities.
Michael Katz
VP Finance
David Heafitz
David Heafitz is excited to assume his new post on the USH Board as an at-large member. He is the proud father of Sarah and Sage who are enrolled in the Kaplan Preschool and toddler programs. David grew up in the Boston area and came to New Jersey with his wife Kayo in 2005, after seven years together in Japan and their wedding at the JCC Tokyo. They joined USH and then moved to Hoboken in 2010. When not at the park or chasing the ice cream truck around town, David is a Vice President at Prudential Financial in Newark in the Global Business and Technology Solutions Group.
