giving tzedakah

There are a large number of causes we encourage people to consider when giving. Here are some:

Jewish Federations of North America represents 153 Jewish Federations and over 300 Network communities, which raise and distribute more than $3 billion annually for social welfare, social services and educational needs. The Federation movement, collectively among the top 10 charities on the continent, protects and enhances the well-being of Jews worldwide through the values of tikkun olam (repairing the world), tzedakah (charity and social justice) and Torah (Jewish learning).

NECHAMA - a Jewish Response to Disaster - is a voluntary organization that provides natural disaster preparedness, response, and recovery services nationwide. Through the years we have brought comfort to disaster survivors by training and mobilizing thousands of volunteers to help communities after floods, tornadoes, and other natural disasters.

United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism Disaster Relief Funds help the victims of the natural disaster and the Jewish communities directly affected by the natural disaster.

American Jewish World Service (AJWS) is an international development organization motivated by Judaism's imperative to pursue justice. AJWS is dedicated to alleviating poverty, hunger and disease among the people of the developing world regardless of race, religion or nationality. Through grants to grassroots organizations, volunteer service, advocacy and education, AJWS fosters civil society, sustainable development and human rights for all people, while promoting the values and responsibilities of global citizenship within the Jewish community.

MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger - a national nonprofit organization that allocates donations from the Jewish community to prevent and alleviate hunger among people of all faiths and backgrounds.
United Jewish Appeal of Hoboken: This organization is the Hoboken Jewish community's primary vehicle for demonstrating our commitment to the world-wide Jewish community, in Israel and throughout the world, as well as the needs of our local Jewish community.
